CARDINAL WEAVER.
2021.
artist live-work space in repurposed shipping containers.
Cardinal Weaver takes consideration of the four cardinal directions and the cardinal bird which symbolizes luck in Navajo lore. Throughout the live-work space, there is a focus on the symbology of the culture surrounding traditional Navajo weavings. The lightning bolt, a symbol of power and strength, is apparent in plan with the orientation of shipping containers. Natural tones, drawing from the Southwest U.S. and sacred Navajo traditions, make up the entirety of the color pallet. An open floor plan allows for multi-functional spaces proficiently flexing between functioning for intimate, private-facing and commercial, public-facing use.
