residential suite for aging parents.

Accessibility and visitability are the driving concepts behind this design. This mother-in-law suite will serve the homeowner’s aging parents for years to come. The color pallet aims at recreating hues from nature, namely the sea and the mountains which tend to soothe aging minds. With warm greys, wood tones, and terracotta speckled granite, the space feels both welcoming and comforting. Many of the rooms sport curtain walls or clerestory windows to garner as much natural light into the home as possible.

Above all, every element included in this design is either currently accessible or can be easily upgraded to be accessible when the need arises.
